Maybe they didn't even know that a few dozen Nomai lived had been stranded there for a few decades and wanted to test it on the local fauna, of which now only those adapted to water survived (Hearthian, Anglerfish, Jellyfish and whatever the Hearthians hunt on Timber Hearth, probably also aquatic lifeforms). However, ghost matter being ineffective under water would be a giant oversight, so the interloper probably would've only be a prototype. Maybe it could even be a robot race that surpassed and wiped out their creators and aim to send an interloper to every system with organic live in it. The question that comes to my mind is: if an actual species consciously built this ghost matter geode, they would have done so without being close to a star and any machines that produce heat, so the species would have to be adapted to the absolute cold of empty space or use robots to build stuff for them far away from their star. The eye basically chose the hearthian as it's "champion" if you want, because it know that them being trapped in a loop would lead to them eventually reaching the eye.īut all that kinda ignores that exiting the loop to die for real without travelling to the eye is absolutely possible, so if the eye "needs" to be interacted with, or it needs to be consciously observed from within to create a new universe, then taking the warp core from the ATP just to die for real when the sun explodes means no new universe can be created, or it may have no "soul" by using the memories of the hearthian to create the potential for new life. So it "calculated" that it'd be found by the hearthian explorer if they'd be trapped in the loop to study the Nomai technology that would have eventually found the eye if the interloper wouldn't have interrupted them and if they'd have found a solution for the problems of the sun station, which I'm sure they would have. That'd also be weird because the hearthian only finds the universe because the sun explodes as part of the end of the universe, but since the eye of the universe constantly streams a signal, it maybe "wants" to be found, to destroy the universe and create a new one. Maybe the eye of the universe "knows" that the hearthian will find it and that's why it initiates the end of the universe. If the eye "wanted" to be found shortly before the universe ends, it wouldn't have screamed "come to me" for maybe millions of years.Īnother important thing you find out in the dlc is that the scans of the owl people showed them that interacting with the eye (like you do at the end of the game) leads to the eye destroying everything, maybe not just by literally exploding like they thought, but by causing the universe to end. The eye was constantly sending out its signal before the owl people blocked it. That's very creative, but it kinda makes no sense.
